Workshop Announcement: Enhance Your Skills in Earth Topography and Biomass Mapping

The Biotechnology Faculty of Universitas Atma Jaya Yogyakarta, in collaboration with experts from the University of Oregon and the Singapore-MIT Research Alliance, is proud to present a free workshop on Earth Topography and Biomass Mapping utilizing ICESat-2 satellite imagery.

This workshop will be conducted on Friday, August 23, 2024, from 08:30 to 16:00, located in the Thomas Aquinas Building, Jalan Babarsari no. 44, Yogyakarta. This workshop offers a unique opportunity for participants to engage directly with professionals in Remote Sensing. The in-person trainers are Alex Cobb from the Singapore-MIT Research Alliance and Daniel Gavin from the University of Oregon.

The workshop will cover hands-on training sessions guided by experienced trainers, practical insights into utilizing Python and QGIS software for data analysis, and instruction on leveraging ICE-Sat2 satellite images to create comprehensive topography and biomass maps. For those new to Python and QGIS, a preparatory module will be available two weeks before the event. This module includes step-by-step instructions for installing the required software, ensuring all participants are well-prepared for the workshop activities.

Attendance to this workshop is free of charge as it is generously sponsored by INQUA (International Union for Quaternary Research). However, space is limited, with only 30 slots available for in-person participants. To secure your spot, register now at http://uajy.info/RemoteSensing_Workshop.
